What is social media and how does it relate to motorcycling and to D.O.C. Bucharest?
As defined by Wikipedia, online social media is a group of tools (web sites and software / applications) that can be accessed with a device connected to the Internet (computer, laptop, tablet, mobile phone etc.), which were built to facilitate communication of Internet users and creating, distributing and sharing content (text, photo, video, audio, multimedia presentations etc.) among members of social groups (friends, colleagues, family etc.). Social media is based on mutual trust, each member seeking to capitalize identity, to belong to a specific group, gain creativity and freedom of expression and participation.
D.O.C. Bucharest wants to be recognized as a community united around the passion for motorcycling in general and, in particular, for Ducati motorcycles and everything related to them, in various forms. Whether we venture out with our motorcycles, whether we meet during our club special events, whether capturing in pictures the most interesting and exciting moments – we all share this passion in everything we do, both in our community – DOC Bucharest and beyond. To wrap up, we socialize, we communicate, we enjoy ourselves, we travel and have fun, as suggested by our motto “Ride & Fun“.
We pride ourselves on our Ducati motorcycles, whether new or vintage. They are, above all, beautiful and powerful and that is why we love them, we want to promote them by all possible means, in order to increase the number of their respective owners in Romania and worldwide, thus to develop our community.
A great way to promote our powerful motorcycles and actions is social media. Most of us use social media extensively (eg facebook, a significant part of the social network media), therefore we recommend our friends to register in our club through www.ducati.com, using all the tools provided by the Ducati manufacturer. This way we have a better interaction with the entire international Ducati community.
In 2007, I attended a social media conference and enjoyed a very interesting speech, which basically told us not to be afraid to use social media for developing new relations, either on personal or professional level. Friends can turn into business partners and the other way around, based on common interests and passions. Today, after almost eight years since that presentation you can easily notice that most of us are interconnected through social media. This tool is part of our daily routine and became mandatory for success and a modern life.
Social media connects us with those far away, but also “sets us apart” from the ones sitting right next to us – so it happens that we sometimes sit at the same table handling our smart phones and communicating via facebook. Maybe it would be better to lock up the gadgets, leave them away, take a good look around and start living real human interactions with our “offline” partners. This way we let social media do its real job: reduce distances where they really exist.
We promote our club- D.O.C. Bucharest – image, motorcycles and actions in social media in all its aspects, but at the same time we guarantee the desired level of privacy to each member of the club. Social media is a tool, an option, a pleasure, not an obligation.
I kindly invite you to also participate to this event, as far as your agenda allows you to, in order to listen to Mr. Iulian Pădurariu’s presentation. I personally support this initiative and the related subject – social media. If possible, I look forward to meeting you on February 18, 2015, at Howard Johnson hotel in Bucharest.
I conclude my intervention by sending you all the best and by launching an outstanding invitation: you are more than welcomed to ride alongside our D.O.C Bucharest club members! This way you can better understand what “Ride & Fun” really means!
We also expect you to connect with us by means of any social media available tool! Together we can create a strong and innovative community!
Best regards to you all!
